The Friends of Yarra Valley Parks aim is to involve the wider community in conservation issues and activities within the Yarra Valley Parklands.

We believe that the Yarra Valley Parklands has the potential to become one of the great urban conservation parks.

Our activities include plant propagation, planting and weed removal.

We work with Parks Victoria rangers and focus our efforts in parks along the Yarra River from Burke Rd Ivanhoe upstream to Warrandyte.

The parklands area is the largest of its kind in metropolitan Melbourne, covering 1700 hectares. In addition to its wide variety of plant species this area includes the Yarra River, pockets of Australian bushland and heritage features such as aboriginal sites, an old apple orchard and remnants from early white settlement.

The parkland also provides the only suitable local habitat for native wildlife and some endangered indigenous plant species. We are very fortunate to have such a large park so close to Melbourne.

Please help us to preserve these parks and extend the bushland areas.
